Miles hiked 0.0- 0.4.

Cleef

Our shuttle dropped us off at the border around 4 pm. We were delivered to the trailhead with 8 other hikers, all of whom were very friendly.

We all discussed our pre trail anxieties and marveled at how surreal it feels to be at the beginning of this journey

We inspected the new border wall. It is a seemingly impenetrable 30 foot steel wall that can be seen from miles away.

Border patrol agents were ripping up and down the service road at the border on quads and dirt bikes.

Our permits do not officially start until tomorrow, and the company was so pleasant, that we only go 0.4 miles to a horse camp that hosts hikers. We have bathrooms and running water. Our plan is to get an early start tomorrow so we can get to a burger and malt shop that is 20 miles in.
