Our campsite last night was on the side of what looked to be a deserted dirt road. Unfortunately, it was not as deserted as it appeared. At midnight, multiple jeeps with their high beams on tear by our campsite- waking us up and putting the fear of death and dismemberment into us. An hour later someone on an electric motorcycle silent glided by, soon followed by the rally car jeeps.
It was difficult to fall back to sleep afterwards.
We awoke to a gorgeous sunrise and aeroplane views of the surrounding countryside.


The trail continues it’s massive ascent, taking us back up into the snow and pines.

By midday we are wiped out from the lack of sleep and the massive amount of climbing. We run into a 12 foot snowbank right on trail.

We make turtle slow progress, only lured forward by the allure of a mountain town at the end of the day.

Eventually our climb ends and we begin descending into the town of Wrightwood, CA. The trail takes us by an a ski resort, abandoned for the season.

After what feels like ages, we make it into town and head straight to the brewery for beers and hot sandwiches. After 360 miles, my shoes were very worn out and have begun to hurt my feet. Old vs new-
