Our highwayside campsite is actually quite pleasant. The passing semi trucks act as a white noise machine of sorts.
Our morning hike takes us by Vasquez Rocks state park, which is a famous filming site for Star Trek.

A few miles later we walked into the town of Agua Dulce, CA and made our first stop at a local diner where we continued our culinary tour of Southern California. We often joke that we are really just taking a tour of rural southern California eateries, and the PCT just happens to share the same tread. We know that our access to town food will soon run out, so we are milking it while we can.

There isn’t much going on in Agua Dulce, no hotels, no grocery stores, only 2 restaurants and a hardware store. A local farmer has opened up his property to hikers for a small fee, and has built showers and laundry facilities in the back of his property.

We clean miles of trail grime off our clothes and body. They have a scale here and I have lost nearly 10lbs so far. This feels like it justifies our culinary tour.

My underwear are rapidly falling apart, and I am hundreds of miles away from a town with a clothing store. Honestly, the torn open parts have improved my previous problems with chafing.

Our plan was to just zip through town, but a few of our hiker friends make it into town as we are doing laundry and we are convinced to stay the night.
We stay out late eating at the other restaurant in town, a Mexican restaurant, that turns into a karaoke bar on the weekends.
