It is a quick hike in the morning into Quincy, California.

The town is having a massive music festival, and we are lucky enough to get the last hotel room in town. We split the room with Frogger, an ER nurse from Eastern Washington. Our check in time isn’t until 3pm, so we stop at an incredible breakfast spot in town.

This town is incredibly welcoming to hikers. I can see how it would be annoying to have a herd of very dirty people descend on your small town every summer, but they take it in stride and seem happy for the business we bring in. A local toy store/game store/music store/ ice cream store offers free ice cream to PCT hikers.

In this store you can buy a banjo, a deck of Pokemon cards, an action figure, and get a milkshake all in one convenient shop. We walk outside and find that the temperatures have climbed well above 100 degrees. Overboard, another thruhikers with a specific love of local saloons talks into going to The Plumas Club.

Plumas Vitas. We take refuge in the local dive bar, and chat with locals as we bide our time before our hotel bed and showers. Our check in time arrives and we relax with 2 feet of subs, showers, laundry, and very cold AC.

It is a rough way to make a dollar, my respects to your dad.

The ice cream helps me thrive. I need the calories.

I am just rolling with the punches. It was definitely intended to be ice cream.
