We hike an easy few miles into town. Along the way we cross a marker stating we have completed 10% of the trail.

Below the ridge we are on is a Martian looking landscape that we marvel at.

In town we book a hotel room in a chalet style lodge and have a massive breakfast in a very hiker friendly diner.

One of our main town priorities is to mail ahead our ice axes and micro spikes. We are elated to get rid of the excess 1.5 of pack weight. In order to fit our ice axes into a box, we have to get creative with our packaging. We cover our package with colorful tape so it can be easily identified when we pick it up at a location 400 miles north.

Otherwise we relax, do our laundry in the sink, and pour as many calories into our bodies as humanly possible.

10% seems like good progress. Enjoy this time in your life. Unforgettable memories. Why sink laundry instead of laundromat – time, expense, availability??
