Zero

The morning has us busy with chores- resupply at the grocery store and then to the outdoor store for many needed items.  This is the first large town with an outfitter for many hundreds of miles, so we have a long list of necessities- a new water filter for amber, water treatment for me, a new sleeping pad to replace my foam pad that was tattered by the desert, and new trekking pole tips for my poles.

After that we take a bus 40 miles to the base of the trailhead.  After all this it is already 3 pm, there looks to be a large storm forming in the peaks above, and amber is suffering from mild GI upset.   These factors combined makes us decide to stay in the tiny town at the base of the mountain leading to the trail.

This town doesnt have a lot going on, but it does have an excellent Mexican food truck and a gas station that sells 2 foot long party subs.   I could die here and be happy.

Back to trail tomorrow
